Beautiful lake, I always enjoy my time here. It's gorgeous for all seasons. If the lake is frozen enough during the winter it's so surreal to walk on the water!
It was great not only did I get to catch a lot of fish. I also got to camp right next to the lake! It was a great time. If you haven't ever went here then I recommend you do.
I live 30 minutes away and this place has a soecial place in my heart. Just a nice quaint simple little campground with no frills except the natural beauty of nature. Great for young children, good hiking trails and if its a clear night great star gazing up on the breast of the dam. (bring binoculars or telescope)
CAUTION: There is a potential problem getting into the park, one we found the hard way. When coming from the east, you get to the intersection of State Rd and 1011/Moss Glen Rd. It is too sharp of a turn for most rigs, so they cut in a little piece of road to ease things. Problem is, it's only about 15 feet long and about 5 feet almost vertical. We are a 32' class C. Our cargo carrier dragged. I stopped, but couldn't back up because that would have dug the carrier in further. Fortunately, a park ranger happened by on his way to work, as well as a car stopped with two strong, young guys in it. The ranger stopped traffic, and between everyone, they held the carrier up while I slowly backed out of there. The park ranger said it happens all the time, as was evidenced by all the gouges in the road. He showed us the workaround, which is to go past that turn by about a mile. You'll find a country club on the left with a nice, big parking lot to turn around in and then you can come back to that intersection from the opposite direction and comfortably turn in. The beauty of this park made it worth the effort!
The peddle boats are awesome as well. Free admission to the park, bathrooms available, swimming, picnic tables, hiking, and lots of hidden treasures ;)
We stopped overnight in Spet 2017. It was so nice there, we're planning a several day visit later in our trip. Beautiful. Peaceful. Friendly neighbors. Lots of trails to roam. We felt very safe there. The reason for 4 stars is that some of the spots were pretty far off level. But the spots were mostly offset from each other so you're not exactly looking at your neighbors. Everyone gets a view of the lake.
Well kept park offering wonderful views all year round. Don't forget your camera! Plenty of parking and lots of trails.
